Yes, recycling ‘feels good’.  But after you put things in the blue bin it gets more complicated.  For recycling to work, there has to be a market for recycled materials.  Aluminum is valuable.  Glass, especially when colors are mixed and it’s broken, not so valuable.  Paper and plastic used to go to China, but they stopped taking it because it was too contaminated.

So, priorities for minimizing our impact are “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, (and Repair, Refuse)”
